Decks and Stairs
Key design details:
- Use weather-resistant materials like the Brazilian tropical hardwood called Ipa or pressure-treated wood.
- Ensure proper drainage and ventilation beneath the deck.
- Design stairs with safe, comfortable treads and adequate lighting.
- Follow local building codes and regulations, including height and railing requirements.
- Incorporate multi-functional elements like built-in seating, storage, and planters.
Custom decks often serve as extensions of the living space.
For Hufnagel Landscaping Design and Construction specializing in custom decks for brownstone and apartment owners in urban areas like northern New Jersey, creating outdoor spaces that are both functional and visually appealing is key. Given the limited space in many city properties, designing decks that maximize square footage while seamlessly integrating with the architecture of the home is essential. These custom decks often serve as extensions of the living space, blending with outdoor kitchens, artificial grass, and plantings. The company’s expertise in urban environments ensures that the decks they build are durable enough to withstand the northeastern climate, allowing homeowners to enjoy their outdoor spaces year-round. With proper attention to drainage, weatherproofing, and structural integrity, the decks are built to last through all four seasons, making them an essential part of any urban outdoor living space.
We get the jobs done fast.
Hufnagel Landscaping Design and Construction’s design process begins with a careful evaluation of the property’s layout, ensuring that the deck not only complements the existing structure but also adheres to local building codes. Features like built-in seating, planters, and integrated lighting are often incorporated to enhance both functionality and aesthetics. When building in urban areas with limited backyard space, Hufnagel Landscaping Design and Construction focuses on creating multi-functional spaces that accommodate various activities, from dining and lounging to gardening. Year-round usability is a priority, so the decks are constructed from weather-resistant materials that can handle harsh winters, hot summers, and everything in between.
